Readers are invited to guess the politics of this newspaper.

A Brit TV program (hat tip LGF) cast doubts on the theory of global warming, and here’s the response of the science editor of the London Observer:

Given that the world’s climatologists have just published a careful, sober report showing global warming is real and worrying, the programme is an astonishing foray into the debate. Certainly, there many reasons to deride it. Its contents are largely untrue, for a start…

To back his case, (TV program) director Martin Durkin interviews climate-change deniers including Phillip Stott, Piers Corbyn, Nigel Calder and Nigel Lawson who reveal their antipathy to the idea we are altering Earth’s weather systems.

Debate over!

UPDATE: March 5

For the record, here’s another denier for the Observer’s list (via Drudge):

Claude Allegre, one of France’s leading socialists and among her most celebrated scientists, was among the first to sound the alarm about the dangers of global warming.

With a wealth of data now in, Dr. Allegre has recanted his views. To his surprise, the many climate models and studies failed dismally in establishing a man-made cause of catastrophic global warming.

Meanwhile, increasing evidence indicates that most of the warming comes of natural phenomena. Dr. Allegre now sees global warming as over-hyped and an environmental concern of second rank.

Dr. Allegre has the highest environmental credentials. The author of early environmental books, he fought successful battles to protect the ozone layer from CFCs and public health from lead pollution.

Sure, but how can he possibly argue with the science editor of the Observer?

  1. Jay says:

They remind me of Donald Sutherland at the end of Invasion of the Body Snatchers where he pointed his finger and let out an inhuman scream, but these guys point a finger and let out an inhuman “Global Warming Denier!”.

And didn’t the aliens live in some sort of vat?

That would explain why there’s something not quite human about Gore – all that electricity he’s consuming probably keeps his vat churning comfortably.
