Flying in to London Heathrow was quite civilized, mainly because Southern Med countries ignore the nanny-ish Brit/EU airline security rules.
The Southern Medites do – sort of – enforce the ban on liquids, but don’t care if if you take 2 bags into the cabin (the Brits insist on only one sub-IATA size, including women’s purses).
The Southerners take the sensible view that all sorts of people need a lot of cabin baggage – the couple next to me had a small child, so had to carry the cubic meter required for its maintenance.
With each visit, London gets more prosperous and has a higher percentage of foreigners – these two effects are no doubt causally related.
With Gore’s departure the weather here has become quite balmy.
