Hamas has declared the Gaza strip an Islamic State, with all the horrors that will bring to its people, notably the women and girls. That’s terrible for the inhabitants, but it provides a test run for the Dem Dream.
Mr. Reid began the week Monday by vowing to “push very, very hard” for troop withdrawal from Iraq in a Defense Department budget authorization bill in two weeks.
…The spate of antiwar activity by Mr. Reid follows a drop in the Senate leader’s poll numbers and coincides with the start of the “Iraq summer” antiwar campaign. The Americans Against Escalation in Iraq — an umbrella group of liberal organizations including MoveOn.org and the Center for American Progress Action Fund — will target Republican lawmakers in 15 states “from Nevada to Maine.”
Reid seems the sort of fellow who would have trouble pushing an open door. But if he and his cronies do succeed, there’s no doubt Iraq will track the Gaza nightmare. Let’s say they force a US pullout in August this year, and Iraq then mirrors the Gaza timeline reported yesterday.
To August 2007: Constant Dem demands that US pulls out of Iraq.
August 15, 2007: US begins 30-day withdrawal from Iraq. Over 1 million Iraqis who have worked with the coalition flee the country. Oil goes to $80/barrel as Iraqi production stops.
September 24, 2007: Shiite militants launch rockets into Baghdad killing thousands, and Sunni-Shiite-Kurd violence follows centered on control of Iraq’s oil. Which goes to $100/barrel.
January 26, 2008: Iraqi elections lead to a deadlocked parliament of Islamic hard-liners from the Shiite south, the Sunni center, and the Kurdish north. The three provinces prepare for war.
June 25, 2008: Iran’s Revolutionary Guard backed by Shiite elements of the Iraqi army successfully invades Kuwait. Congress vetoes a US reaction. Oil goes to $150/barrel.
July 12, 2008: Iraqi Sunnis ally with Hezbollah to attack Jordan, killing its King and replacing him with a group of hard-line Mullahs.
June 10, 2008: War breaks out between the three Iraqi provinces.
June 14, 2008: Three new states replace Iraq.
– Kurdistan, which prepares for war with Turkey, sending shock waves through the EU economy.
– Sunnistan (which now includes Hezbollah-ruled Jordan), which prepares for war with Israel.
– Greater Iran, which prepares to conquer the rest of the Gulf States with its new nukes (the UN’s Al Baradi says he’s Shocked! Shocked!).
Oil hits $200/barrel, the world tips into a deep recession.
Later 2008: An unidentified terrorist group detonates a 15 kiloton nuke on the dome of the Capitol using a hijacked helicopter. Congress is in session and 80% of elected members die.
Then things get bad.
Time to wake up, Mr. Reid.
