The Brit Revolution Cometh

Brown, possibly a secret patriot, has announced a “Fortress Britain” policy designed to trigger Brits to rise up against their oppressive elite.

Brown:

Train passengers face routine airline-style bag checks and body searches as part of a new counter-terror crackdown announced by Gordon Brown.

He conjured up visions of ”Fortress Britain” as he unveiled a succession of security measures at airports, railway stations, sports venues and other public places.

Each day 3 million passengers use the London Underground, and 50% of these probably commute to London by rail. If Brown screens all underground and rail passengers on entry and departure, that’s 9 million screenings a day.

Based on our experiences at Heathrow, each screening ties up a crew of 4 for 2 minutes, and costs each traveler a delay of 30 minutes.

Assuming each screener costs £10,000 a year, Brown’s cost comes to about £15 billion annually – a big tax hike.

The commuter hours amount to the loss of about 1.5 million people from the UK labor force, a reduction of about 3.75%. That’s just London – adding in the rest of the nation takes out about 8% of the labor force and hence 8% of the nation’s productive capacity, cutting economic growth from 2% to -6%.

Plus every commuter gets an hour added to their commute (2 hours if they use both train and Underground).

So that’s the Brit future – long lines of tired people shuffling along in the rain outside every mass transit station, towards security searches staffed by these folks:

More than 9,000 illegal immigrants could have been cleared to work in the private security industry, some of them guarding sensitive Whitehall locations and some even under Metropolitan Police contracts, it emerged last night.

Such concentrations of commuters will present excellent targets to the terrorists, who can be confident they’ll avoid detection:

(CBS) CBS News correspondent Bob Orr reports terrorists could slip past Transportation Security Administration screeners and, with a few readily available components, assemble an explosive that could cause severe damage to an airplane, according to a new report from the Government Accountability Office.

So Brits will have a combination of much longer commutes, higher taxes, an economy in free fall, and mass deaths at transit centers.

If that doesn’t trigger their revolution, nothing will.
